Environmental Commitment

Stewards of our Environment…

The Wilderman Group recognizes that being stewards of the environment helps support our community. In developing The Wilderman Group’s comprehensive and economical plan for green and sustainable operations, we wanted to be sure that all stakeholders would benefit from these practices.

Our Green Commitment includes conservation management, as well as environmental and social responsibility practices that provide financial benefits to the owner, such as lower energy and water bills, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the reduction of utility and maintenance costs that can contribute to the net cost of ownership comparable to that of a conventional building

The Wilderman Group is committed to environmental stewardship and is a proud and active member of
the South Carolina Chapter, Charlotte Regional Chapter and the Georgia Chapter of the US Green
Building Council.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

Included in The Wilderman Group portfolio are LEED-certified and designed for LEED-Gold properties. The LEED® green building certification program is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. As such, we actively seek alliances with municipalities and pursue partnerships with local architects, suppliers, designers, and vendors that support the initiatives of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program (LEED). Doing so provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

Buy Local. Be Local.

We have developed a sustainable food program that respects food production methods that are healthy, do not harm the environment, respect workers, are humane to animals, provide fair wages to farmers, and support farming communities. We seek to strike a balance between natural systems and human activity in nearly every aspect of our daily operations. Through the farm-to-table initiative, we work directly with local farmers, industry and city government to incorporate innovative, environmentally sound practices and sustainable, local agriculture. We value the diversity supplied by a global food system, and understand the environmental impact of deciding what to eat, when to eat it, and how it is grown. Buying local supports the local economy and supports and enhances everyone involved. Our signature Chef’s Table series highlights the very benefits of this “Buy Local Be Local” program.
